What HotSymbol is
HotSymbol is a free reference for symbols. Search by name, character, or code point, copy a symbol in one click, and open its page for the Unicode code point, the HTML, CSS, and hexadecimal codes, the Alt code where one exists, and instructions for typing it on Windows, Mac, and phones. Browse all symbols.
The site also has a reference page for each code format, a glossary of character terms, and two text tools: the font generator and the text decorators.
Where the data comes from
Character names, code points, blocks, and versions come from the Unicode Character Database. Named HTML entities come from the WHATWG HTML Standard, Alt codes from Unicode’s mappings of the Windows code pages, and translated symbol names and alternative names partly from Unicode CLDR. Every code on the site is generated from these sources, never typed by hand.
If you find a mistake, tell us. We check every correction against the source before changing anything.
Languages
HotSymbol is available in English, Spanish, German, and French. Spanish covers every page, including all symbol pages; German and French cover the interface, collections, code references, tools, glossary, and legal pages.
