The service
HotSymbol is a free reference for finding, understanding, and copying symbols and their code values. We may change, add, or remove features and pages at any time, and we do not guarantee that the site will always be available.
Using symbols and codes
The characters you copy are standard Unicode characters. You may use them, and the code values shown for them, in your own documents, designs, websites, and software without asking us.
Accuracy
Character facts come from the Unicode Character Database, named entities from the WHATWG HTML Standard, and Alt codes from Unicode’s code page mappings. We work to keep them correct, but the site is provided “as is”. How a symbol looks depends on fonts, devices, and software, and Alt codes depend on Windows settings. Check values independently where errors would matter.
Content and licenses
- HotSymbol’s design, logo, explanations, and page compilation belong to HotSymbol. You may quote short excerpts with a link to the source page.
- Unicode data is © Unicode, Inc. and used under the Unicode License v3.
- Alternative symbol names and search keywords draw on annotation data from Unicode CLDR, © Unicode, Inc., used under the Unicode License v3.
- The list of named character references is from the WHATWG HTML Standard, available under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license.
Do not copy the site or large parts of it for republication, and do not collect its pages by automated means in a way that burdens the service.
Acceptable use
Do not use HotSymbol in a way that breaks the law, interferes with the site’s operation or security, or tries to gain unauthorized access to our systems. Do not generate artificial traffic or interact with advertisements dishonestly.
Ads and other sites
HotSymbol shows advertisements from third parties and links to other websites, such as Unicode and WHATWG references. We are not responsible for their content, products, or practices; your dealings with them are between you and them.
Disclaimers and liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, HotSymbol is provided without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the site. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The effective date at the top of this page shows the current version, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept it.
